WETBOOT

The Wetboot is a lightweight durable waterproof boot. It is the result of material explorations with the industrial scraps of a foam packaging supplier. The fabrication process is practically instantaneous, using simple molds and forming techniques as well as few materials.
The upper is made out of light closed-cell foam, which provides comfort and dryness. The two halves of the boot are vacuum formed and heat sealed at the center. This process is derived from the iterative analysis of fit and seam placement, through trial and error. The reliefs on the surface house the fastening straps and rigidify the boot's form. The resulting hybrid footwear typology, merging elements from duck boots, athletic shoes, and amphibian morphologies, can be likened to a soft shell or casing, a nod to the original field of application of the material. The polyurethane sole offers a flexible firm grip.
